Having a package shipped ATM, it was shipped out sept 22nd evening. By sept 23rd AM package was in Canada (wow USPS - good job!) Since then, the package has been scanned once, and all it says is 'item is in canada'. Wow, thanks for being so specific. You've had my package for 6 days and it's somewhere in this tiny country of ours. Tried calling the phone number for more information and both their 416 (toronto) and 866 (toll free) phone numbers just produce a busy signal.
2nd situation: Insurance company sends a settlement check for when a cab rear-ended me a few months ago (all they had was my Ottawa address). My mom gets the mail from my old place - forwards it onto me. cheque never arrives. Same thing happened with some bank statements that got forwarded to me - one was even registered mail after the first encounter of missing documents. All CanadaPost would say is that they won't compensate us because the documents had no real value, they just refunded the amount that it cost to send the documents.
And on the off-chance mail does get to me, it's ridiculously slow. I'm sorry but 6 weeks for lettermail - that's beyond incompetent.
USPS slogan is 'through rain sleet or snow.
CanadaPost should be "When all that's left are the cherrysticks"
