exactly. im sure he was part of the dressing room problems
bitching and moaning because he thought he would have a scoring role? who did he think he was going to replace on the top two lines...tanguay and huselius?
see ya friesen..dont need the attitude. and we sure as hell dont need those 3 or 4 goals you chipped in.

Look like Keenan is starting to have an influence on Sutter already. Keenan knows Aucoin pretty well, but I dont think this justifies this trade at all. Ya we got rid of Zyuzin but 4mil for Aucoin. Wow I don't really like this trade at all because Aucoin is past his prime and not getting better, plus hes slow. Should mean Hammer or Stuart are gone, if not both.

When I was driving into work today I heard on the radio there is another rumour floating around surrounding the Flames and Habs. I think the trade was Tangs for Kovalev which I sure as hell wish won't happen. Again Keenan knows Kovalev very well with the rangers. They say this would probably mean the Flames would sign Smyth after July 1. I hope the flames don't pull the trigger on this one. I love Tanguay, and see Kovalev as such a lazy player who only plays for who and when he wants to.

Well time will tell. What do you guys think?

I really hope Tanguay doesn't leave. I think he's an awesome player on the team. And as far as Ryan Smith goes... I dunno about that. Should be an interesting off season.

yup!! supposedly Chicago is exstatic with this trade since they have been looking to dump this guy for awhile.

Just hope that being back with Keenan will give him some confidence.

I am not liking the start to this off season!

The way Chicago played last season, I'm sure they'll be ecstatic to dump anyone.

Prospect Steve Marr was also involved in the trade.

Here we go again...Sutter and his Boys remaining faithful to previous players/teams. I just hope this one doesn't bite us in the ass.

    Let's see...

    Friesen.....Nothing
    Marchment....Nothing
    Preston....On the Fence
    Amonte.....Nothing much
    Keenan....????
    Aucoin.....????

I think Primeau was under Sutter in San Jose...I think.

But, too early to jump to conclusions. Let's wait and see how things turn out.

Primeau was in SJ with Sutter.

Kipper....turned into a top 3 goalie in the league
Stuart....top 3 Dman while he was here
Primeau....was great while he was here, hope he resigns

I think the upside to Aucoin is a lot bigger than the downside. As long as he plays more than 49 games (what Zyuzin played last year), he should have a great year, and if he manages to get hurt again, then hopefully we can write off most of his salary.

Zyuzin was going to make $1.45 next year, so for an extra $2.55 ($4m for Aucoin) we got a great defenseman (when healthy).

The only negative I can think of would be this might not allow us to keep Stuart, but if Sutter pulled the trigger, Stuart must have already turned down the contract offer and wanted too much. Now I hope we can sign Hammer.

What's this I'm hearing about Ryan Smyth has pretty much signed with the Flames and the deal will be announced on July 1st?

Now this would be a serious low blow to the Oilers. And actually Smyth is the exact kind of guy we need, someone who's willing to pay the price in front of the net!

Exactly. Calgary has never really had a good shit disturber in front of the net. We seem to really be lacking someone like Smyth, who is undoubtedly the best in the league at creating traffic and wreaking havoc on the opposing teams goalie/defence.

But at what cost? Whose leaving to make room for Smyth? Can we really sustain a roster of Kipper/Iginla/Tanguay and Smyth?

Then some deal would have had to been made between the Islanders and the Flames just so that they could even negotiate that contract

Smyth sign with Flames just to tick off Oilers management.

too many players on the left if we have smyth. probably get rid of tanguay and his 5 mil and keep huselius.

Don't forget, we have a potential cap problem signing both Iginla and Kiprusoff. These two are worth way more than a Smyth or Aucoin - we shouldn't be taking up cap room without addressing those two signings first. Also, I like Aucoin, he did very well with the Islanders a few seasons back but 4 mil is a little steep. And hell no to Smyth, forever and ever.

With the cap going up to 49-52 next year, and who knows how much the year after, we will not have a problem keeping Iggy and Kipper. It is more like Langkow and Huselius we need to worry about.

Yes, but reading in between the lines it's about signing Iggy and Kipper without sacrificing other parts of the team. And yeah the cap is going up but so will both their salaries - Kipper especially.

I thought Sutter did coach Primeau and Stuart in San jose in 2002-2003

Fine you've made me do some research.

Dec 1/02 - Darryl Sutter and Rich Preston fired from SJ
March 11/03 - SJ traded Bradley to Pens for Primeau.

    Happy now?
