Manitoba Residents Please sign the petition!

We, the undersigned/digitalsigned, would like to petition the City Of Winnipeg to provide a safe and controlled area in which drivers may participate in drag races legally. We ask for the city to provide a vehicle racing facility, within city limits and be available to the public during the weekends and evenings, and have ample parking and seating facilities.


This will benefit the city for the following reasons:

· Prevent accidents and/or deaths due to street racing
· Free up the traffic congestion in the Portage/downtown/Kildonan Park area
· Reduce the noise levels for citizens living in the area
· Bring revenues for the city from this facility
· Permit Emergency vehicles unobstructed access through the Portage/downtown area due to less traffic
· Provide a safe, controlled area in which people may gather
· Free up Police manpower, in order to deal with more urgent calls/matters

I support this 100% -- great idea -- much like our Race City here -- but deep down... as stated at the bottom of every forum page:

How do you expect the government to spend it's money on worthless things like this when there are so many other social services that are in need of money?

The government of Manitoba is not a particularily wealthy government and this is most likely the last thing on their minds.

Lobby a private enterprise to build a race track for you guys instead, you'd have better luck in achieving your goal.
Race city here in Calgary is a private enterprise that has been licensed by the government and all precautions are taken to ensure safety.

I don't think a governement body would run a racing facility since the insurance companies would start crying. Even though most tracks are insured and the drivers waive there public insurance rights but still. I doubt it will happen - The governement may fund a private enterprise however.

All the details have been considered in all directions! We have major support for this! If you would have seen how far backed Portage was backed up last sunday and if you would have seen the over 800 cars at ct aswell! We cant say too much about this but I can refer you to the 3 articles that were in last weeks paper! As for the comment about the government spending money stupidly, I would call 2,000,000 dollars on toilets for the marion street bridg even stupider! This is 100% real! All we need is the publics support to ensure it flies!
