Before I start calling around...
What routes and airlines can I take to fly to SE Asia...specifically Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei? This will be my first trip outside of North America.
What price range will I be looking at? economy or business class.

economy class should be around 1200-1600
business I think is around 2-3k
most likely you'll have to fly to vancouver first, then take main one that will directly take you to your SE Asia destination
some that I would recommend
Malaysia Airlines
Singapore Airlines
Cathay Pacific
Philippine Airlines
Thai International
I booked my flight to Hong Kong for $1075 all in on Cathay Pacific. I heard it is cheaper to fly to Hong Kong then look for tour packages to Malay/Singapore/Thailand. I got my tickets from that travel agency in dragon city mall.
Malaysian flies from LA - KL. They are usually cheaper than most other airlines.

Cathay Pacific is pretty good for flights to Asia, esp. their business class.Originally posted by Seks

Tours booked in Hong Kong are much cheaper, but mostly in cantonese. But they are really cheap ie: Thailand for $250->$400cadOriginally posted by G

They're really good too! Food is good, it's fairly clean there, and theres inflight entertainment for each seat.Originally posted by benyl

If your flying to Southeast Asia the cheapest airline probably is EVA Air, but they're kinda sketchy. Then it goes Malaysia, Cathay, Singapore, and I think Japan Airlines flys there too but they're the most expensive. This is to malaysia tho.

damn.....I don't think I can get it for that price now. I want to go in November
When i went back to M'sia 2 years ago i took the vancouver to hongkong, to KL to East Malaysia route, after going through L.A 7 years ago i was like fk going through the states again!
if you plan on going to M'sia, go to east Malaysia (Sabah) (not many north american's travel there and miss out on a more relaxed side of the country). Brunei is just the Sultan's Palace and his many garages that you can't see.(I was quite dissapointed)
for scenery east M'sia, for shopping hands down K.L.. Petaling street
..Cathay Pacific Economy Class ..
take Malaysian Airlines if you going from LAX
