I was reading about this Waiprous place, on that 4wheeler.ca, and some people there say you can get some body damage on stock ride height!

But anyway, what do you want to hit up, and when?

Hey man, I had a grand cherokee that was stock with shitty stock tires.. it did fine on dry trails with mild mud at maclean.. but I wouldn't beat it any harder than that.

Are we allowed to ride in empty land like around 16th ave and stoney trail? I see lots of path close to bowness around the mobile home park across from COP.

Yup tow ropes are key, make sure you have proper tow points as well...dont want to be yanking off your axle, steering components etc etc. Waiporous was slushy this past sunday just lots of big puddles not much mud, probably alot snowier now! have fun

As fun and tempting as those places are, that would be considered "urban wheeling" and is frowned upon and illegal depending exactly where you are. When people see this type of activity, they use it as ammunition against the Wheelers. Best to take advantage of areas like Maclean Creek, Indian Graves, and trails that are still open in Waiparous.

With the negative attitude towards 4 wheelers right now and the recent trail closures in the Waiparous and Ghost areas, please prepare yourself and your truck for proper recovery for minimal impact on the trails.

Pop on by aurs.org and familiarize yourself with PROPER trail etiquette and the do's and don'ts. It's not like the old days were one could go and do whatever they want.

There is nothing worse than a few folks having fun out there and innocently doing things that are damaging. To be honest, when we are new to wheeling, there are things we just don't know. Unfortunately this completely unwinds years and years of hard work by the different 4x4 clubs and organizations in Calgary that have been working endlessly in maintaining the trails and fighting for what little trails that are left to remain open.

Maclean creek is soo fun!! The trails were awesome, got tossed around, stuff flying everywhere, it was nuts!! Best offroad experience so far..

We also go to this other place, not sure what it's called, maybe some of you know where I'm referring to, it's by Bragg creek? We encountered some friendly natives on one of the trails, stopped to chat for a bit and then went on our way. We usually go offroading for the scenery and to take pics. The worst experience was when we got wedged on top of a huge tree and it was just 2 of us, and he had to push while I rocked the pathy, 45mins later and full of mud we managed to get unstuck. On the way back, we attempted the tree again, and actually made it through thanks to a little more speed and different angle. Just never go alone in case you get stuck!!
