Harddrives stuck in PIO Mode

Ive tried absolutely everything that i could find on google but i cant get either of my SATA drives out of PIO Mode

my dvd burner works in udma mode 2 and is plugged in through an ide connection.

i have a seagate and maxtor harddrive hooked up to both sata ports on my Asus A8V-E SE.

ive tried all the registry tweaks along with disabling S.M.A.R.T but the harddrives just wont get out of the damn pio mode. its so hard to do anything on the computers cuz everytime you try to access the drives cpu usage goes up and the computer just hangs

theres no updates for the sata drivers for this motherboard that i could find.

Anybody have any ideas as to how to fix this?

try some sata/ide settings in the bios.

Are you using the latest VIA 4in1 drivers? They should work correctly

is your registry tweak that vb script?

tried the sata/ide setting in bios everything is correct
and yes im using the latest via 4in1 drivers which are straight off the cd i got

and the reg tweak i used was resetting the windows counter that counts the faults which in turn puts the device into pio mode.
