What tires for stock 2001 Prelude?
Stock tires are about done and need replacing. I'm on the fence between just replacing the tires (205/50 R16 87V) or getting a mid-range 17" wheel & all season tire combo.
I'd like to do this for 1G or under...but if i get wheels they gotta look GOOD.
Advice would be appreciated?

CMS has some really nice wheel packages that go for around $1200 in the 17' size. Check them out.

Wait for a good deal at CMS. Their wheel/tire packages are insanely cheap. I'd go for 18's on your Prelude...

Ya one of my concerns about switching to a bigger wheel is that I've seen some preludes with what look to be 17's that don't fill up the wheel well....well (for lack of a better word)....almost like the total wheel + tire size with a 17" and lower profile tire is less than the stock look.
...keeping in mind I have no interest in lowering. All I want is new tires or new tires & wheels with no other impact.

if you have no interest in lowering I would stay away from any aftermarket wheel and tire setup.

if you are worried about wheel well, get a bigger side wall and lower it more. when your running springs and than put on 17's your going to look like crap with a 40-45 wall.

personally i am going to run 17x7 50+ with 215/45/17

my stock tires are 225/45/17 so i upgraded to 225/40/18 to keep the speedometer 99.9% accurate.

some people will care less about the speedo, last year my speedo didn't ork in my 240sx (thats fixed now) and i never got a ticket even when i was in residential with a cop behind me. you have to be stupid to know your speedo is off when you flying past people like 90% of the people on the road

If your not lowering, then I dont think you would be pleased with 17 inch wheels. In my opinion, putting on bigger wheels without lowering the car will just make it look worse. If your staying with stock suspension and want something different with your wheels, stay with a 16" diameter wheel in my opinion.

If your going to aftermarket rims you better be doing something with suspension(Lowering springs or Coils) or your gonna have some mad wheel gap depending on your tire series.
If your gonna put anything bigger than a 45 series tire on 17s just to fill wheel gap for the time being. Then in the future you try to put lowering springs or coils on your gonna get RUB, again depending on your tire tickness and series. So make sure you buy the right size/series for future applications not just for time being.
When I got my 17s on my lude I had 50s with about 1.5" wheel gap with stock suspension, then switched to 40 series with 3" wheel gap. Then put my coils on and let her drop and man its tight, front wheels sit 0.5" in the wheel well and rears have 1" wheel gap to give me good stance and rake.

^Mugen Showa coils IIRC, that car is a total Mugen JDM whoreBTW if you want stock sized tires, LMK I have some Yoko ES100's with 95% tread left....
As for wheel size, I'd go w/ 18's...I had them all, 15,16, 17 and 18" and I luved the look of the 18" sooo much. But then again, the Advans were nice

Lo)2enz0 & 1-bar....the stance in those pics is awesome. If I go with more than just stock tire replacement that's exactly the look I want.
I've seen a couple 'ludes with what look to be 18's (or maybe 19's?) where the car looks like it's sitting too high...makes me think that just putting on 18's makes the car sit a bit higher....not a fan of that look....although I don't want to get low where I have to worry about every ramp or driveway...i already have to be careful in stock form on my own driveway.
