    Default HELP! Problem with SR20

Ok. Well i guess its not a problem with the motor itself. At least i dont think so. So here's the thing. Today smoke started billowing out from under the hood. My initail reaction was WTF!! . My boost guage was reading 16psi, when its only suppose to be running at 7psi. So we found one of the hoses was burnt in 2 places and replaced the hose. However, the reason the smoke was billowing was because oil had sprayed all over and was burning off on the manifold. Turns out that my car keeps blowing out my oil dipstick when im boosting.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LEND A HAND AND TELL ME WTF IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR.

    Much appreciated.

I thinkk you must need an aftermarket oil dipstick...

it was fine before. It was just after the boost was screamin high at 16 pounds. I dont know if its something as small as a seal on the top of the dipstick or what. Im just hoping someone has an idea if its something more than that. I just dont want to have to go to autodream for them to rape my wallet for looking at it. Ive never personally been there, but im assuming its gonna be expensive as soon as i walk in the door.

you pay for quality i guess they ARE the experts lol...is your dip stick really really easy to pull out? or is it in there good and it STILL sprays out?

Would having one of your oil lines pluged cause pressure to build and send oil up the dip stick?????? - anyone can answer just curious

    good luck with it tho

You have excessive crank pressure, aka your rings are fried likely. It is either that or literally your dip stick is broken but there is a small seal that goes around it. You would need a good amount of pressure to be blowing it out, when it happened to me it was because rings 1 and 4 were worn badly. When the dipstick is shooting out though it is generally due to higher than normal crankcase pressure.

Do you still have the black oil filter can coming out of the block above your exhaust manifold? You should check to see how much oil is coming out of there and back into the turbo. is this on a swapped car or a jdm car?

its literally shooting the dipstick out of its holster. Its trippy shit. Its an sr20 swapped into a 1992 240sx fastback. It wasnt doing it before, until the psi jumped so much in the past few days. Now even that we've fixed it and its at stock psi. In boost it still shoots out of the holster, its messed up.

Ya if it wasn't doing it before there is something causing excessive pressure to get into the crank case. Usually happens when the rings are blown. If you have an aftermarket oil catch can you'd notice a good amount of oil spew in there.

I would highly reccomend doing a compression test just to make sure, if the rings are blown one of the cylinders it should show pretty drastrically.

Worn ring most likely. Do a compression test to confirm.
Also could be a hose that is connected to a wrong place.

yeah rings happend to me, even if you replace the dipstick was replaced it will pop out because of the excessive pressure caused by your worn rings.
