April 26 Exams at the University of Calgary

Exams scheduled to be held during the day Saturday, April 26 at the University of Calgary will go ahead as planned. Students who are unable to reach the campus due to bad weather and road conditions are advised that they will be eligible for deferred exam privileges.

The exam scheduled for 7 p.m.on Saturday April 26 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

One of my profs threatened our class last year saying that if anyone made him make a deferred exam, he'd make sure that he made it as hard as possible. haha.

So maybe you didnt want one?

i dont understand why they did this, it would make more sense to do this for really early classes, if you wake up in the morning, i'm sure 7 hours is enough to get to school, whatever.

second, what will they do. they have to give at least a weeks notice, people already planned for shit. what if you're going out of the country soon, then what? i was there, i was ready to do it, its their fault i didnt. they should do one thing:

- make assignments or something worth the grade of the final exam, or your choice, whatever you did better in, give you the benefit of the doubt. they shouldnt have to make you defer it, its not your fault, and you'll only forget half the stuff come the exam.

we'll see what happens.

It's better to get it out of the way immediately anyways. Deferred exams don't usually happen until like the middle of the following semester, not like a week after.

Students are told every year to keep the entire exam period open and to not book vacations until the very last day of exams. There is no notice that has to be given to students as long as the rescheduled exams fall into this time period. As for most of the exams today, they still went on if you showed up. If you didn't show up, you have the option of deferring it. The only exams that were cancelled were some night exams.

Besides that, deferred exams are usually much tougher than regularly scheduled exams, since profs take into account the extra time that a student has available to study.

i think the reason they didnt cancel the earlier ones was because it would be completely unfair to the sutdents who actually did show up. that's why the students who showed up got to write the test while those who couldn't make it are eligble for deferred.

there was no time for the school to notify the students (it's not like they're gonna call every single student).
