    Can you download the videos off YouTube? If so, how?

    you can, but it will be saved as flv format.

    the only easy way to watch the file is with VLC Player

    I did a quick search (literally 10 seconds) and found dozens of sites that have tutorials on how to convert .flv files (and others including google videos) to .avi or .mpg.

    This is the first hit I got.

    On Safari on a Mac - double click on the flv file in the "Window:Activity" window and the file will be downloaded. Then you can convert to mp4 with iSquint.
