cut polishing is using a harsh abrasive to polish your car, usually a 3 stage setup. You use a cutting compound to take out scratches and paint fading, then u use a different polish to smooth everything out, then u wax it. I used a cutting compound on my hood, due to the fact that it faded like hell, and it came out pretty good. hard work though.

it's generally called a power polish and most paint shops can do it.

Pebble Beach auto can also oblige in providing this service. Typically, we use "T-Cut" a UK based product as the cutting compound, followed by the requisite 3 stage paint cleaner/polish/restoration process, all applied by hand. A power polish is available, however, a hand application seems to achieve better results if applied properly.

When you power polish, what kinda pads are you using? wool or foam? Also, have you tried the new norton system yet?

I typically use 3m cutting compound with a wool pad (depending how bad the paint is) or i be lazy and use the yellow foam cutting pad, and then ill use a crystal glaze, then wax...

Do you do wet sanding also?
