I was there. To me, large trucks should have low bumpers. just my opinion, may have changed the outcome.

It was a raised full size truck.
Every time I see one of those I cringe. Why does anyone need such a huge vehicle in the city?
Maybe to match their ego...or compensate for something.
I cannot stand those trucks. In most cars, you're eye/head level with their bumper AND frame, and it had a "bull-bar" on top of that. Those trucks weigh an absolute ton.
Unless you're using them for recreational 4x4'ing purposes (which I doubt for most owners), they should not be street legal.
We don't know which car ran the red light.
terrible.
everyone should slow down
but truck drivers or larger vehicles should slow down more. and be more careful

sad post ,,, RIP
First of all...my condolences to the family.
I am so sorry this has happened.
I am a driver of one of those "large trucks". And that's all I will say in this thread...because I will not excuse what has happened. It's very sad...
Wow...Kevin I just got more information this morning on where they were coming from.
And essentially they were coming from the same place my family and I were coming from that night/morning. Man this even hits closer and harder to home now...
...@therealarifjina...
Truckers are the most irresponsible drivers on the road. And not to mention rude! This morning I was waiting to turn at a red light on the way to work and this truck pulled beside me....and what do you know he looks like he is in a hurry and so he just runs the red light and cuts right in the traffic idiots! Not to mention how they love to tailgate and their bright headlights would just shine into your rear mirror.Originally posted by WWJAI

But we all must not blame the driver of the truck and say he intentionally ran the red light because he could have not been paying close enough attention or was half sleepy (many possible reasons). We all make mistakes while driving, this guy may be no different.
The area of the accident is like 1 minute drive away from where I live and usually its a pretty safe intersection as I've never seen an accident there. And cops and emergency must have been at the scene pretty quick as theres a police station and fire department really close there.

I guess the only thing you can hope for from something like this is that the government wakes up to the fact that having trucks on the road with bumpers 4 feet in the air is brutally dangerous, and maybe one day there will be laws on the height bumpers are from the ground. I doubt it though. RIP.
The father updated us on the condition of his daughter this morning. She's in stable condition but still in the ICU.

You sound like the type of guy who would buy a C-Class just so you could tell people you have a Benz.
Agreed, and I almost always see them going faster than the speed limit and changing lanes very fast.Originally posted by Aleks

A month or two back, leaving my house I too was almost T-boned by some crazy ass who didn't pay attention on the road.
I was the second car in my lane, the first car left as soon as the light turned green and i started to go, RIGHT at the moment my car reached the intersection some bimbo ran a red light. I slammed my brakes, guy beside me did too, and all you hear is SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH. you look up and shes just sitting in the middle of the intersection all dazed and confused, then threw her car in reverse and almost smoked the guy behind her. it was scary.
RIP once again to her and condolences to her friends and family.
Why? There's absolutely no reason anyone should be using a 4X4 truck in the city as commuter transportation. This isn't back road Saskatchewan and there are no hay bails to move. Unless it's required for work there is no reason. The majority of the assholes that speed in this city outside of teens are truck drivers. The worst part of living in this city is the high concentration of Billy Bobs & Duanes that feel the need to bring their country transportation & asshat driving habits to the city streets.Originally posted by Nufy
