    Default Fatal Accident this morning

I dont know how many of you knew about this mornings fatal accident in the NE.

    http://www.gov.calgary.ab.ca/citybea...073825_16989_0

They lady that was killed was my manager, who had recently lost her mother in law, and left a husband with a serious heart condition with a 12 yr old daughter. Of all people, this WONDERFUL woman did not deserve to pass like this.

to those fuckers that ran that red light. i hope you lose your license and get charged manslaughter or anything.

thats whats left of the car.

The daughter is in stable/serious condition. She still doesnt know about her mother.

The light must have been red for a while, considering that she was hit on the drivers side. There was enough time for the opposing light to turn red, hers to turn green, and her to drive and enter the intersection.

    RIP

consider this consequence when you're thinking about running that red, or "opening it up" on the highway.

we all do it, this shit aint a joke, it's a damn shame.

    RIP driver.

    RIP...

DC2, I know the people involved as well. I work with the husband. I am on my way to the Children's Hospital after work.

I met his wife on many of occassions. She is one the most supportive wives a husband could have had. She didn't deserve this at all. The daughter was always full of smiles and a pleasure to be around.

My condolences to the entire family, who suffered the loss of another member of the family so recently as well.

RIP and condolences to the family/friends of the deceased. As for the driver that caused the accident, who the hell has to run red lights @ 6AM?? There's barely any traffic out, which should give commuters ample time to get to work on time.....What a waste

Unbelievable what that brave little girl went through, witnessing her own mother die right infront of her eyes and lay dead while trapped in the car.

    Condolences to the Family

But we all must not blame the driver of the truck and say he intentionally ran the red light because he could have not been paying close enough attention or was half sleepy (many possible reasons). We all make mistakes while driving, this guy may be no different.

The area of the accident is like 1 minute drive away from where I live and usually its a pretty safe intersection as I've never seen an accident there. And cops and emergency must have been at the scene pretty quick as theres a police station and fire department really close there.

RIP...so it was a female. In one of the city beat reports it says its a male driver. if the truck driver did infact run the redlight i hope the truck driver chokes on glass shards regardless if he was paying attention or not. When you drive you take the responsibility of paying attention and seeing that the other drivers on the road are safe......

It was a raised full size truck.

Every time I see one of those I cringe. Why does anyone need such a huge vehicle in the city?

    R.I.P.

I almost t-boned a couple of young girls who completely blew through a red light the other day, I had to slam on my brakes HARD, and they laughed at me when I honked my horn at them.

They wouldn't have been laughing if you nailed them. They'd be f'in dead.

I know, that's what pissed me off more, they almost cause a critical (to themselves) accident, and all they do is laugh. "hahahah, isn't it funny, white honkey in a rusty ol pickup almost kill us because we're bad drivers! hahahah"

As of 4pm this afternoon, the 12 year old girl didnt even know. She was unconscious at the scene. After she woke up she was under heavy anesthetic. So the doctors were unsure of telling her right away.

Imagine if you were 12, waking up and finding out that your mother will never be with you again.

What a sad situation. There is nothing that could make this better. My prayers go out to the surviving family.

Running reds happen so often here in Japan that people wait for the green to be on for a couple of seconds before advancing. Its actually scary to witness this time and time again.

Too bad there can't be a device that would automatically slow down and stop a car when approching a red light. I guess that's in the future.

This situation is one more case for impossing stiffer laws against red-light runners. Its just plain dangerous. Sometimes its not intentional, but I would hazzard a guess to say most times the driver knows they are running the light.

Just returned from the hospital. The lady in ICU wouldn't let me see her since I'm not family. I spoke to her father early this morning. I can only imagine his pain.

On a side note, I pulled up next to an F350 in traffic on my way to the hospital. The front bumper is at my shoulder/head level.

I was there. To me, large trucks should have low bumpers. just my opinion, may have changed the outcome.
