Default How do I install video card?

I bought a new computer and it has a intergrated video card. I put in a Geforce FX 5500 and there is no signal. I tried to detect the card but it doesn't detect it.

Any idea on how to install this card? Im not sure if it's my PC or not. I need to find out soon so I can return my comp and get a new one if theres something wrong with my pc.

I did some research and it just said go to the BIOS screen in start up menu. I did that and found no info on how to disable my intergrated card and read the new one. Someone help please. I took the card in and out 4 times and finally gave up and did some research, now im kinda clueless.

    Thanks in advance.

you might have to set it in the bios, but really, it should be smart enough to disable it's own onboard and use the card, that's what mine does and it's not exactly new.

Did you hook the video cable up to the card, or is it still plugged into the onboard video output? It sounds stupid, but I've been guilty of doing this a time or two myself

I would go with GoChris and go to your bios and makesure to disable your onboard( in older boards you have to locate the the pins on your mobo for your video card and short it just like how to reset your cmos)

use your motherboard manual to find out how to enter your bios and disable the onboard video.if you dont have /cant find the manual use google to track down the mb model and you can find info that way!

Is the card AGP, PCI or PCI-Espress?
