what is wrong with it? did you get it checked to know that it would be around 200 to fix it?

No I didn't bringing it in to get it checked. The only compaq service center in the city (from what futureshop, and staples told me) was Office Solutions (or something like that). They said it would cost $75 + 2 weeks to open it up, then the cost of any parts if needed. Worst case scenario the mobo needs to be replaced which I think is around $400.
Personally I don't think it would be worth fixing, else I would have done it myself. Basically the parts which I mentioned are the only things worth something to someone.
I'd be willing to part out, if need be. Just name the part and the price.
