Help TV Repair/help needed

I have sony tv that will not turn on. The stand by light stays on but when i go press the power button it makes the noise like its just about to turn on but it doesnt. Almost like it turns on and then off. Anybody know what could be wrong with it or where i can get it repaired?

tried the good old banging and kicking? Depends on how old your TV is, it might not cost you much more to buy a new one than to repair.

Its from 2001 it was fairly expensive when I bought it, wouldnt mind fixing it if i knew it would cost much.
