Default Do you need passport for jan 1st 07?

going to be traveling to the mayan riverra jan 1st wondering if you need a passport or if simple photo id and birth cert will work?? (The flight has a layover in the states both there and back)

MEXICO - Proof of citizenship and a photo ID are required to enter Mexico. A tourist card is also required. To obtain the tourist card, you must pay a $20 fee and show proof of citizenship and sufficient funds.
**As of Jan 1 '07, a passport will be required for re-entry to the United States

Well, if you lost it and haven't found it, you can bet your ass that it's currently being sold on the black market for about $10 G's...

Probably to be bought by some non-descript terorrist or something.

I just travelled to the Dominican Republic. No lay overs in the US, and a passport was required.

I suggest you get one. Go to the Harry Hayes Building downtown. Go early!!! First thing.

I also suggest to do the paperwork on line as this also speeds up the process.

    The line ups are lengthy!!!!!

I chose the pick up option for an additional 10 bucks.

Yes. I'm going to Hawaii over Christmas and won't be back until after Jan 1, so I had to get one.

GL with that. I went about 3 weeks ago and it was already getting crazy. I'm willing to bet that if you don't get in there in the next few days, that it will be hard to get one before the end of december.

It's ALWAYS busy this time of year, and then add the fact that anyoen travelling to the US, MUST have one, this year, it's going to be a madhouse.

There was a ton of people there last Thursday when I went to get mine but I filled it out online and I got to jump the line, took me 20 minutes and I was through and finished. I HIGHLY reccomend filling the papers out online.

There's another passport office down south on Macleod Trail near Midnapore. I don't think too many people know about that one, so it may not be as busy.

Just get one anyways - its $80 for 5 years and you won't have to worry about it. They even have a rush service that will get it to you quicker for a small fee.

Some of my family members who needed to rush renew like a year ago said that they got different amounts for the "rush" free or somthing, or one had to pay, the other didn't.

    Standard = standard charge
    Up to 14 days = extra $50
Now = extra $80+ and with a good reason (like death of a family)

Yah but you went to the Dominican.

I've gone to Vegas twice in the last year and haven't had a passport and had no hassles. I need to get one ASAP though as I'm going to Vegas again for a work thing on Jan 8 and company policy dictates you have to have a passport.

Looks like I'll be getting up early on Friday and heading to Harry Hays to get it done. True, it would be less hassles to have the passport.

You can pay extra to get it rushed too can't you?
