US Bail Bonds...how does it work?

So Im watching Dog bounty hunter and Ive always wondered how bail bondsmen work. There are cosigners involved and everything. Do the bailbondsmen put up the money to the courts so that the suspect can make bail? thanks for the info

Weird, I was thinking the exact same thing the other night while watching dog. Anyways here is a pretty good description.

Here are the simple steps...

- Find your ass in jail ($10,000 bail)

- Call a friend (co-signor worth more than $10,000)

- Call Dog

- Your friend signs Dog's form indicating that if you dont make your court appearance, your friend pays Dog $10,000. Your friend also pays a 10% ($1000) fee (non-refundable) to Dog for the "loan".

- Dog pays your bail and collects the $1000.

- If you go to court your bail is paid back to Dog and your friend is off the hook.

- If you skip court Dog chases your ass down with the help of your friend so that he isnt on the hook for the $10,000 bail.
