I'm heading to Madrid April 30 - May 14 just wondering if anyone has ever been or knows of any good places/tours. I'm staying in Gran Via so something that's accessible from there by metro would be greatt. Thanks.

Just got back from my Europe trip. Didn't like Madrid too much. Gran Via is pretty much in the middle of the city's attrations. Right side is Retiro park and the Prado museum. Left side is Real Palace. Bottom left near Toledo station is a huge street market on Sunday morning/noon. Few blocks south of Gran Via is Puerta del Sol with tons of shopping. Near there is Plaza Mayor. Way up north is the stadium. Just search and you'll find stuff. I suggest you go to Barcelona instead.
Madrid is an industrial town, it is not very nice at all. Take the time to leave Madrid and visit Barcalona, Sevilla, etc. There is a reason that Madridistas leave during the summer months.
Just make sure you don't leave anything lying around or someone will take it. I was robbed there this summer.
Also everyone has a mullet. No joke, its like the "in" thing to do there.
I'm going to Madrid because I have family just outside of the city.... Barcelona's too far from them.
