Land Rover is redesigning and reintroducing (to the US) the Defender as a 2008 model.

    Check it out

how UGLY. so many problems with LR vehicles. LR3 and RR rated as the least reliable luxury vehicle for 2007.

    That's absolutely terrible.

Why are they trying to 'style' the Defender at all. The only really good bit of it was that it 'did what it says on the tin'.

If Defenders stop being simple, reliable workhorses, then bugger the lot of them.

If I could get a 2006 Defender 110 CSW TD5 here for $40,000ish, I would be all over that, but this Defender I wouldn't cross the street for.

LR lost my respect with the Discovery II that didn't come with a manual transmission anymore and became relegated to the soccer mom set alone. The LR3 feels like just another bloated SUV with none of the sense of adventure of the older models. If I didn't need them for parts support, I would rather see them stay out of North America altogether until they get their shit together and go back to their roots.

It's a Defender, who the fuck cares what it looks like? It'll run shit over. Good enough.

    ^

I would hope so, but the minute that they try to make it look all stylish and stuff rather than an aluminum box on chunky offroad rubber, then I have to start wondering what else they wussed out on.

It might not be able to run shit over any better than an FJ Cruiser by the time it gets here.

    That is my fear.
