Its supposed to be three months salary.
But seriously I would spend prob $2500-5000
All well and good if you can afford it, but I know people who are waiting to get engaged while he saves up for a 10k ring.Originally posted by SinisterProbeGt
After shopping for 2 months I found that the quality of the stone and ring combo for lower $ Amounts will not suite your lady very well and It will come back to bite you.
I spent almost 3 month’s salary for Ring + Wedding band. It’s a .75 main stone flanked by two .25 stones.
Shop with her in mind not the price. I picked the right style then bought the one that was in my price range. If you shop with budget in mind you will only end up with the bargain bin ring set she never wanted and all her girls friends will notice!!!
Quality purchases should have your heart involved not your wallet.
I got my wife a 0.51, VS2, Ideal cut, F colour Canadian diamond ring for $3500. Looks great, big enough, and she loves it. Only thing I'd do different is go with a platinum band. Spent so much time researching the diamond I just choose white gold because it looked the same at the time.
Although I was finishing up my degree, so technically I was unemployed![]()

i would have to agree with the 1 month salary type of deal
hell if i am going to spend over $2000 on a ring
all of my relationships have never been around material good and i plan on keeping it that way
I had spent about $3200...![]()
...@therealarifjina...
Lol aww poor arif haha.... ill be spending around the same maybe in a year or 2
3 months.... wow thats a lot of coin... i was thinking like 3000 or so but that is still less than one month's salary. I think i can get a really nice one for 2500-3500.
When a woman says it doesn't matter, really, it does, she just isn't saying anything. I mean WTF, is she going to say, 'Yah he was a focking cheapass, look at it, can't even see the diamond'![]()

Yes she loves you and if you can't spend a fortune, she'll still love you but don't tell me she won't perhaps love you a bit more if you got her one fat ring. Please.
My GF doesn't need a ring, she has enough bags, she can sell them all and buy one on her own.
Oh yah, I keep hearing about the 3 months salary thing. And one more thing, make sure she gives it back if you guys break up. You never know these days. Get it in writing haha however that might not go over too well.![]()

IMHO...get something that she will love and be proud of. Some have stated that you can "upgrade" later. I don't agree - my fiance bought me a beautiful ring that suits me (and no - he did not cheap out either). I would never "upgrade" my ring, the sentimental value is worth more to me than a bigger, flashier diamond that would look silly on my hand anyway.
Like Abyss stated...you can always go "big" on the anniversary bands.![]()
My wife told me that if I spent more than $2500 on the ring, she would sell it and buy something useful along with a more modest ring.
Sounds like a keeper.

LOL, c'mon guys...don't cheap out on your engagement rings. IMO, price shouldn't be an issue when shopping for a ring. I'd rather buy a nice engagement ring as opposed to a new car, but that's just me![]()

I opted for the ring I thought she would like best, I had some extra cash, and figured it was forever, might as well get a nice one![]()
If you really look around you can get a hell of a ring for a decent price.
Ill see if I can get a pic of it tonight
Just shop around, most jewellers are willing to help

err yeah is it seriously wise to put minimums on love? marriage is a choice, and by stating things such as this, it only makes you come off as a gold digging miser type person, like most other people have said if you two are in love, a piece of string should be enough to satisfy the agreement of marriage.Originally posted by ashee
One month's salary minimum.
I once dated a girl who told me that she would marry me only if i sold my car to buy her an engagemnt ring

couldn't agree more.
Success is the ultimate revenge.
my ol lady wants me to spend like 500 bucks, then she was looking at rings that were like 10+ so i don't know where i stand. I can gaurantee it aint going to be my 3 months salary, hell even 1 month, well maybe during spring break up when i dont make much money. nobody needs a 15,000 ring.
all this shit about how much they have to be, buy something that is nice, she will like, and you won't feel like an asshole paying for.
LOL Why does that matter.Originally posted by sputnik

if your suppose to spend 3 months salary on an engagement ring, then how much are you suppose to spend on the actual wedding ring??![]()
So I wasnt supposed to let my girlfriend choose the ring, and write the check after we bought it?![]()
She loves it, I love her... all that matters.![]()
