Default December's "post your latest picture" thread

November's done...thank god! Bring on December, lets see what you got!

Aimless wandering around my house with my Tamron Macro because the weather is too cold and I'm a wuss has resulted in.......wait for it....................pictures of crap around my house! They are neither flowers, nor greenery; glamorous, nor professional, etc.....but, I really enjoy pointing this lens at anything, because its ridiculously sharp, cheap, lightweight, and unlike most people I really think the push/pull MF lock is cool!

    A dusty calcaputer!

    Open up and say AHHH!

    Anyone want a smoke?

Can you guess this substance or material? Not a good photo, but if you can figure it out tell me!

    ^^^ cool pictures.

That tamron lens, what is the focal length, min. focusing distance, and price, if you don't mind me asking?

I was thinking about the 60mm f2.8 Nikon Macro lens because it is only ~$450. The 105mm VR macro lens is ~$950 and that's a bit much.

    Thanks

And as for the lens, as Muse said, its a Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP AF Macro. Easily best Macro for the money IMO. Little sample variation (as with Sigma), as sharp or sharper than the Nikon 105mm Macro, better contrast, and half the price....I found a good priced one, but was gonna buy the one below w/o hesitation.....

Nice shot Graham! I was curious when you do the snow machine shots are you using the tripod or is everything on the fly? Do you use the 70-200mm lens exclusively out in the hills?

    Thanks!

i definitely don't bring a tripod or monopod. Most of the shots, with the help of the bright snow, result in a fast shutter speed to be available.

I use the 70-200 the most by far. The 17-35mm I have had proven itself well but the telephoto allows me to stand in once place and take the pics (see: lazy).

The 17-35 allows for pics like this (my calendar cover shot):

^^^ lol, I don't think that funny is the word for it....what were you trying to do? A panorama that was stitched together to leave you thinking that you are warping thru an alley? Interesting shot.
