Arrow Looking for Fuel Economy Tips...

    Hi,

I recently bought a Suzuki Vitara 2002 (4 cylinder engines) and for my own pleasure i'm looking to improve it's fuel economy efficiency. I'm trying different kind of products, and i'm currently testing them to see the difference in mpg. If you know some little trick, just leave it to me i plan to test it independently and redo some mpg test in the future.

    Thanks!

I've always heard to check your tire pressure, low under inflated tires can make your mpg to go shit.

    Don't constantly speed

Keep loads in the vehcile light

    Don't drive as much

    That's all that I got

drive slowly, nothing aburpt, over gearing while driving im in 5th at 50 in my car only for cruising, in the manual for your car it should tell you ideal shifting points for economy if you have a standard

Most products that claim to improve mileage don't. If a magic can of gunk could do that, then the manufacturers would use it.

Years ago when they tested Toyotas for maximum mileage they drove in 5th gear at 21 MPH and got huge figures. Note that driving 21 MPH may cause road rage in others. There's always that stupid downside to everything.

A year or two back I put a ram air on my civic and got an extra 50+ km to the tank. It paid itself off pretty quick

Easiest way to save fuel is to consolidate as many tasks as you can into one trip.

    Mythbusters did that one, lol.

IIRC they actually LOST mileage to it... But then some will say they were told to disprove the theories or they'll get in trouble, while others said it was all true...

I think it might work. Acetone could act as a detergent and clean up the inside of the engine causing better fuel miliage.

you could try out the less extreme method which is adding MMO to a tank of gas

I've seen episodes where they try to bust myths and at the end, the myths turn out true and they admit it. There is no type of conspiracy going on

Try a new spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap & rotor, clean out the throttle body, fuel filter, I doubt they make an air intake for your car so try a K&N etc. Basically juts keep your car well maintained.

This tip is for the true cheapskate haha. Fill up half a tank at a time, its weight reduction.

Also keep your car clean, take out what you don't need. I removed some plastic panels in the spare tire well (3 lbs), a swing up cup holder/ tray (15 lbs), roof rack (15 lbs), under seat plastic (5 lbs). It doesn't seem like it does much but imagine the fuel savings over a life of a vehicle.
