Increasing fines that much is such a bad idea!

Police might not see the expected revenue that they are hoping for because of the quantity of people that will now fight the tickets instead of just paying them. Not to mention the strain and cost on the judicial system.

I predict the fines will come down to a more *reasonable* rate in a few months.

I'll just get off my soapbox now.

I'll be fighting each and every ticket I get in court, and I suggest you do too. If 50% of the people who got tickets fought them, we could bring the traffic court system to it's knees!

Yup. Actually, less than 20% of people who got traffic tickets go fight them. The way the court system works (or any well managed buisness works) is that you hired enough to handle your theoritical maximum capacity. If you were to say double the percentage of people appealing their tickets, the JP and CP will be throwing tickets out like it's on fire cause court dates will probably get back up to more than 9 months which is when they become invalid anyways. Fight the crooked system that's only proven to scam motorists of their hard earned money! haha!

I almost got killed in China town walking from the Harry Hays building to Treasures of China!!! And it is a crosswalk!!!
I wish a officer was there to write up a ticket haha

I don't see what the big deal is. Why not just stop driving in such a way you get tickets? Cheaper than POINTTS and a lot less hassle.

WTF is with the victim assistance surcharge? Understandable if you hit someone in a crosswalk, but who's the victim if you're just caught speeding? Just another cash grab, IMO.

ahaha its china town what do you expect. although its mostly the pedestrians that are the dumb asses. some drivers down there are pretty crazy too, but there are alot of pedestrians that jay walk and put them selves at risk.

That's bull shit that the fines are going up. I haven't had a single ticket yet, but I don't exactly "drive by the book" either. They even said that petty tickets will be dealt out more, rather than having a warning at first. So that means improper lights, enlarged exhausts, exhaust too loud, improperly coloured bulbs...

More people are gonna get more bull shit tickets, and it's all gonna cause a larger up roar than it already has. Maybe we'll even see protests and rallies! Hahaha.

i fight each and every ticket i get, not that i get a lot, but at least make it worth your while by seeing the crown and a judge

I've had lots of cops downtown cut right in front of me when crossing pedestrian crosswalks at stop lights. Especially right near the police station...I wonder If I should right their car#'s down and make a citizens arrest
