Who's the best for shipping from the US to Canada? I need to ship my monitor from here to Calgary because I can't carry it with me all over the place.
I want something cheap yet reasonably fast.

UPS will rape you with brokerage fees.Originally posted by GTS Jeff

UPS has their own customs broker, hence they'll charge you an arm and a leg for "the service"... Fedex and USPS uses 3rd party brokers, hence better competitive pricing.
yea UPS = Bad brokerage...
They usually go 1/3 of the cost of the item for their brokerage fees....
At first when I read this thread title and your name Jeff, I thot it said "Best Stripper" LOL
not really...fedex is just as bad..
if you ship air ups or fedex you wont be charged brokerage cause it's included...
if you ship ground fedex or ups...you will be charged about the same amount of brokerage fees...
I know this..cause I just bought something from the states for about 70 USD...and shipped it ups ground...apparently I owe fedex like 40 bucks...fuckers
Hmmm when I got my BOV shipped up from the states, the shipping was $20 US, UPS air, but the stupid fuck recorded the value of the valve at $999.99 instead of $99.99 (which I asked him to do so that the customs would be less)... So I had to fight a fucking brokerage bill for $326 and some cents. But I ended up paying like 23.00 for the $99.99 instead..
you should talk to ups about that...whenever you ship express (air) it is included...
as indicated here..

I'll be damned! Thanks spyguy, this was like back in December, hopefully they will still be willing to negotiate. I still have the bill from them, and I will print off this page!Originally posted by spyguy

ok, so if i ship by air, it doesnt matter who i pick, but if i ship by land, then usps?
Also in case your unaware, if you insure the monitor they will charge you GST, so you will have to pay the GST and then provide Canada Customs with the proper recipts stating you already paid GST. After a couple months or so you will get a refund on the GST.
Here are the prices for customs fees for different items:
