that looks really slick....

the phone has been picked up by cingular in the US, i believe that they run a GSM network so that increases the probablity of finding unlocked versions when the phone gets released.

8gb $599 USD on a 2 yr contract with Cingular
4gb $499 USD on a 2 yr contract with Cingular

GSM first, but they say it should be compatible with all carriers.

And to Talies R, no phone will work on Telus or Bell unless it was released by Telus or Bell. Except if you load it as analogue, which would completely defeat the purpose of the iPhone.

you shouldn't be worried about the cost of the phone, you should be worried about the cost of the bill to use all of it's featres, it's probably cost $200 a month for phone service for the data/email/sms/phone.

Everyone was expecting the annoucement today because of the keynote speech at MacWorld... everyone had their speculations as to what it would look like, but I don't think anyone expected this... people were expecting an iPod with a keypad...

haha, I fixed the thread title for Demz Ballz.

Cingular will have to unlock these for their customers after 3 months usage IIRC. So there will be unlocked Cingular branded ones in and around Christmas unless someone cracks them. I would expect prices to be around $1200 USD when it comes out to buy it outright.

Cool phone, but I am going to wait for Gen II or III.
