Default question about cp rail trains

These long ass slow mother fucks go through the foothills industrial everyday on my way home from work. They should have an underground tunnel for them or something. Anyways my question is, why do they go halfway through an intersection, then stop and back up again?

It's a train... where the fuck do you expect it to go? It's not like it can pull off to the side of the road and let you by...

You think the train is bad there.... you should see Edmonton. 2 main lines running right next to major intersections and roads. Morning rush hour? Lunch time? Hell, anytime is good for a 3 mile long train! While were at it, we'll slow down to a crawl so we back traffic up at least 20 minutes. F**kers

Are you talking about the one by the Shamrock? If so there is a train that goes through there @ 5pm and another @ 5:30pm
Speed Doesn't kill, it's the sudden stop at the end.

I looking forward to the day that I stop for a train and some fucker behind me thinks that is a bad idea. Perhaps another route home would solve your problem.

    What a retard.

How do you know there isn't something coming along the other track?

I still don't understand why Calgary has train yards in the middle of the city... it is freaking PRIME real estate. They could be making so much money from the property taxes. City council makes me shake my head sometimes.

probably because the rail yards were there a long time before the boom happened.

Which boom are you talking about? The one in the 80s when the city was smaller and could have easily moved it out? The current one?

There will never be a good time to move them. Somebody just needs to take the initiative to do it. I am sure they can find the funding somewhere. Think about how much traffic would flow better in the downtown core and the SE.

    the 80s, obviously.

CN has no financial motivation to move all of those tracks outside of the city... and i think 'easily' is a relative term.

I searched but I can't find anything to back me up, but I remember hearing about a proposed redevelopment project for the rail yard area.
