Thumbs down Another Canadian Murdered in Mexico

19 year old Canadian tourist killed in Acapulco, Mexico. His travel companions say he was beaten to death. Mexican "authorities" say he was the victim of a hit and run.

I wonder if the "authorities" ordered the blood/crime scene to be cleaned up 5 minutes later like they did in Cancun 11 months ago.

Based on the fact that a tourist was murdered? Not so much.

Thumbs down Hm, another "hit and run" in Mexico

"Hit-and-run" seems to be the theme for Canadian vacationers in Mexico for the past two weeks.

After being to mexico I'm not suprised something like this happened. When I was down there I almost got into a fight with 2 spanish guys because they wouldn't let us pass. Luckily my friend was with me too, so we kinda just gave 'em a shove and kept walking...

Crazy though how cops walk around with AKs strapped to their back.. and did you know its illegal to piss or have sex on the beach?

not only that but there is two seperate people from my home town to add to that list. The one that just happened a few days back, again hit and run and 2 yeas ago.

Cliff Glasier, 67, originally of Chatham-Kent, was killed Wednesday in the apparent hit and run in Ajijic, Mexico. Glasier's wife, Janette Lerch, 54, is in a coma, that was Wednesday.

2 years ago Shawn Potts died in Cancun on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2005. His left wrist bore a large gash and Mexican documents indicate a large glass wall was shattered at a nearby hotel.

    It's getting scary down there.

    ^
When it happens in Canada and the US, does the gov't try to cover up what really happened or at least give the victims familes the respect in letting them know what actually happened.

^ Well that could probably be debated. MY point being is that tourists get killed in all sorts of countries all over the world. This is nothing new. I would consider most of South America far more "dangerous" as Mexico.

Agreed. South and Central America more "dangerous" than Mexico. .

I've seen those shows like "Dateline" cover stories similar to the happenings in Mexico but the show was for Honduras and El Salvador. Tourist gets killed and it is covered up by the local government as to not effect murder statistics and make the country appear more safe to visit.

However, the problem is people traveling to a more touristic destination (eg. Mexico, Costa Rica etc) have a false sense of security. Bottom Line: Regardless of where you go, you have to be sensible and cautious

    Wow, really? Thanks tips
Sounds like you might be a statistician in your spare time.

I've been there, seen things, spent time, and then made a judgment.
I'll never go back to Mexico.

Mexico is a beautiful country, with nice people, as long as you know where to go and don't act like an asshole.

Dancing with someone else's girlfriend can get you killed in any country.

There's even "Tourist Police" in Baja now that are there just to help out tourists in case they have problems.

I've been to Mexico and I didn't really run into any problems, and I have been to Cuba.

I was planning to go back to one of them again, so would it be safe to go to Cuba, or not really?
