Not that big of a shocker
Well, that was expected. He will have a HUGE impact on MLS, in terms of growing the sport.
I am actually really happy about this, not because he signed for the MLS. More so that Real Madrid is finally getting rid of this guy, he is horrible and only a 1 trick pony.
On the other hand this will help grow the sport in the US, but not the quality of the game.
He wont help the US THAT much, it's just a graveyard for wash ups now. Even Romario plays for a Miami team, that didn't help it much.
But yeah kudos to Real for getting rid of him, he's been on his way down for a long long long time now, ever since he got married to posh spice if u look back at it...

But then again, Pele and Beckenbaur were soccer stars when they came to the US. Beckhams a marketing tool and a huge ENTERTAINMENT star, and I think US might benefit from that...until they watch him play.

the only way he can help the sport in the US is trough his publicity and MAYBE bring in more interestOriginally posted by TeamBestBud

i was never a fan of his...but his wife
its not surprising but like most people said he is washed up and was even cut from the national team. he may help bring some more exposure to MLS but thats about it.
Even in his prime I wouldn't consider him top 10. Not even close.
I'm surprised the team can pay him that much, I wonder how much of that is endorsements? The league has no major tv deal that I've heard of, and they probably don't bring that many fans in to the games...
This guy makes 1 million a week to play futball? I can only dreamOriginally posted by thinmyster

Whatever way you slice it, I think this is a big step for US soccer. I do believe that it will bring more attention and direct more publicity in the way of soccer in North America and specifically USA. Whether he is talented anymore or not.
Plus I would pay attention to the sports headlines of him just to hope to see a shot of his wife! So that already brings in that much more interest.

Wat a bastard. haha
But we'll get to see his wife more on TV i think.

Ultimately, I believe people in the US will care more about 'Posh and Becks' off the pitch. $250 million pays for the circus that is their lives and the huge worldwide publicity moreso than how many goals he can put in the net.
They brought him to play in the MLS not for his soccer abilities, but for his marketability. Man U was the top profitting team because of Beckham, and when Beckham went to Real Madrid, they became the top profitting team! It was not a coincidence.
He'll definetly help to grow the sport, which is the main purpose of bringing him over to LA Galaxy. They couldn't care less if he scored any goals or kicked any free kicks.
