you need to buy a wireless PCMCIA card (~$100) which will broadcast back to the unit. Internet speed you will not notice a decrease because its an 11MB/sec connection to the router (some are faster).
if you were transfering within the network it will be a bit slower because most opperate on a 100MB network, but thats minor.
Wireless on a laptop is THE WAY TO GO...
Wireless Router (Linksys) - ~$140
Wireless Network Card (Linksys) - ~100

Wireless + 2.4 GHz cordless phones = bad
They often interfere with each other causing grief. I've seen too many friends with 2.4's have problems with theirs, so I'm waiting for the 5 GHz ones to get cheaper.
I have terrible trouble with the Linksys wireless at my house -I can download at highspeed for about 20 seconds or so, but then it just stops dead in it's tracks.. no error messages or anything, just no more d/l.
I've been playing with the settings for over 3 weeks now trying all available channels, upgrading firmware and drivers, WEP settings ect, moving the router and reciever (WUSB 11 2.6 reciever) but to no avail..I can not maintain a solid connection. I'm hating life right now Linksys customer support blows hampster nuts as well.
