Warning: Credit Applications now processed by USA Company

ATB, Royal Bank, TD, pretty all banks now forward all credit applications, business, personal, to an American company who they will not name and will tell you the US Goverment may review the information and record it if they feel they should under USA patriot act.


Why arnt Canadians saying anything about it? Canadians are subject to the USA Patriot act when getting loans. and no one cares

if you choose you can ask the bank to process the application internally, but they may say no or they can not , of if they do it may take a long time and they will think you are suspicoius.

a few days ago i walked into to ATB to get a loan, the loan officer told me has to export the information to usa and is subject to US goveremnt review under usa patriot act. call them

all most all banks are doing it now

I'm not surprised. US Patriot Act involves any data within their country. If any of our major banks has a server or uses server in the USA, then anything passing thru or held on that server is subject to the Patriot Act. I know of companies that are reorganizing how they handle data so they avoid falling under the Patriot Act. The question of FOIP compliance also arises here as well.
