hi, i was wonder if anyone knows the cylinder head to engine block torque sequence. i was unable to find this in my search. can only find bolt torque specs. would appreciate any help. vehicle is a 1986 VW golf w/1.8 plan jane engine.

just go to the dealership and ask them if they can print it out for you ive done that a couple times
is it not the same for every head in existence?
start in the middle and work out when tightening, start on outside and work towards center when loosening.
you could think of it as a swirl circle pattern outwards.

not quite, but if you head to autovalue or canadian tire or some shizz, they have haynes manuals (which generally suck but will have the torquing sequence). not only is the order you torque them important, but HOW, and to WHAT torque setting. some engines call for multiple goes at tightening it (i believe your vw may be like this, i know mine is)Originally posted by Audio_Rookie

also, checking with the dealer would not be a bad idea at all
I always tighten in a spiral from the middle outward.

i've always used an x pattern from inside out, its always worked fine for me.
