Default Autobody work - big project.

Okay, I have a 1990 Honda Prelude that needs to be finished. It was originally my brothers project, but he bailed on it. I'm not a car genius; I don't know everything about cars, so if you say things I don't understand I'll just run it by my brother.

Edit: Is it better to go through with it, throw some more money into it and fix it up after putting so much money into it? Or to sell it off whole, or part by part?

    To my understanding, it has:
    Front bumper
    Side skirts
    Rear bumper
    Fenders
    Carbon Fibre hood
Spoiler (not designed for the car, was cut to fit on to it)
    Rear seats
    Lamborghini (scissor) door kit (hinges).

I need to know everything that needs to be done, where it can be done, what it will cost, etcetera. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time in reading this, and I look forward to your replies.

Pictures: (If you need more pictures of certain places/parts of the car, ask me and I'll go take some)

The best way to reach me is by email (Windows Live Messenger/MSN Messenger supported) [email protected]; other than that, I'll do my best to check back here and check PMs. Thank you.

I don't mean to be rude or anything. Just curious as to why this specific car for a project. It looks like it needs a good 9K+ in body work if you didn't intend on doing it yourself. Or with someone you know.

No offense taken. It was my brothers choice of car, I'm not sure why he chose it, I guess he liked this year of Honda's, he also had a 1990 Honda Civic, and he has always wanted a 1988-1991 Honda CRX. I know it's going to cost quite a bit to get it done.

I guess another main question is, is it better to go through with it, throw some more money into it and fix it up after putting so much money into it? Or to sell it off whole, or part by part?

It will need ALOT of bodywork, mostlikely you will want all that bondo gone and new metal put in if you are willing to spend 10gs. If you really want to go through with this PM Phuqu on here or call Screaming Paint Works..I personally dont think it is worth it and it might be better to scrap it and start fresh.

Yikes! You'd probably be better of starting with a newer car, the money it would take would exceed what the car is worth . The body isn't in great shape, the interio looks shot and even if you do most of the work putting it back together after paint, it's be a huge pain in the ass finding all the little parts, screws, etc! It sucks to say it because it looks like a fair bit of work has already be put into it, but you're probably better off walking away.

Can't wait to see this all finished..... Good potential.

Eventually, will we see this in the Marketplace section?

HAHAHAHA did you even read what he said? He was asking if it was worth to fix it up... He never said he was gonna, it isn't worth it to fix it up. You would have to put like $15,000 into the car and probably only get like $5000 back when selling it. Not worth it unless you plan on keeping it for ever..

dude that frame is way to rusted to even consider fixing it up...your never going to get your money back if your planning to fix it up. I was in a similar situation not nearly as bad as this but all I did was get rid of my car asap.

well the simplest answer is that no its not worth fixing up, not by a long long long shot. there is a bunch of rust that goes beyond cosmetic and outside of that, pumping money into an old lude is a loosing game even with a fresh car

Definately not a fixer. Sell the parts and call is a day.

I used to own an 89 and although it was a nice car if anything went wrong with it I probably wouldnt have fixed it because of cost.

Okay it looks like everyone agrees that it's not worth it to fix up.

How would I come about selling all the parts? I want to try to get as much money out of it as possible, because there has been a lot of money put into it. Should I make a post in another part of this forum to see if anyone wants to buy the car or any of the parts?

Okay well I guess I'll just sell it.

    How do I sell it?
    All of it together?
    Sell the parts off individually?

How do I advertise selling it?
Anyone know who might be interested?
Should I make a post on this forum?
    If so where?

How much do I sell each of the parts for?

Is there anything I should do to prep the car (example cleaning the Carbon Fibre hood)?
