Help on Wireless Internet

Ok so i have a home desktop computer with shaw cable modem its a pretty new computer
and i have a work labtop that i like doing work in front of my tv downstairs
my work labtop is pretty new too and has a built in wireless card
so what i want to do is to get the internet downstairs
sometimes i get it already through a lynksys network when i am downstairs but not very good signal
just wondering what i need to get it working like if i do need a router upstairs on the desktop and then how i go about setting that up

buy a rouder, read the instructions. Everything will be explained. Its pretty easy, just remember to read instructions before plugging anything in.

if you buy a router

with telus?
if yes, you have to register the MAC addy of your router to get it to work...

with shaw, it's just plug and play (sort of), you have to know the sequence of powering each equipment...
