Wounded/Disfigured marine comes back to marry

I'm pretty lost for words about this pic. This poor guy was horrendously disfigured.. only to come back and be married like he probably promised his fiance'.

I'm more amazed then anything, niether or them are smiling or at all happy... its kind of like that saying "lets finish what we started" but niether of them are at all looking forward to commitment that they agreed on, its looks so mechanical... anyway....

Ok, well I don't know about him (i'm going on a guess here and saying his face is not as responsive to express his feelings as it was before the incident)
but her, you can clearly see, is not happy about it at all. I found it more devastating to how she was probably more attracted physically to him before. (her view of him reflected upon his looks?)
Just a thought. Really sad story though.

That's also just ONE picture from the whole day too. I have pictures from our wedding that both me and Minh don't look too happy in either. Hard to judge the entire day and feelings from ONE photo.

I saw them on Oprah, I think it was, and they both were very in love, and happy. She truly does care for him, and his happy to spend the rest of her life with him.

sure she may not be happy but thats understandable, im sure she cares and loves him cause she still married him

I'm willing to bet you and the other chick $$$$ that the marital bliss wouldn't last one year after all the cameras and attention dies down .

I'm not gonna speculate on whether or not their marriage will last, I just wanted to say one picture isn't proof of anything. Who knows the photographer could've asked her a question and then snapped the shot, she looks pretty happy in the other pictures!

That's so heartbreaking. People joke around about the NWISUF (Not what I signed up for) rule but this is a textbook example.

I commend her for going through with it and sticking to her guns. Hopefully it can work out for them.

I almost guarantee he will get all his plastic surgery done to reconstruct his face pro-bono.

yeah, it'll be mad publicity for the surgeon too. but what he has right now is probably after a lot of surgery anyways, so it likely won't be a significant change beyond this.
