It sounds almost to good to be true. I just picked up the new issue of 5.0 & Super Fords, and they did a report on one with basic mods.
Bone stock: 360.7 HP, 358.7 Tq, that means 425 HP at the flywheel, that seemed a little odd to me.
With Cat back exhaust, Bassani X-pipe, K&N Conical Filtercharger: 400 HP, 383.1 Tq.... meaning ~480 HP at the flywheel!!!
With mods, slicks out back and front skinnies, it ran a best of 11.95 @ 116.27!!!!!!!!
The new cobra gets IRS that apparently is beefed up to be both extremely good for drag and street racing
It gets the T56 6 speed
And let's not forget that beautiful torque curve we saw a little while ago.
For the cost, the new cobra seems too good to be true. Only thing I can think of that will be a drawback is reliability, but I think even that will be good, because the 4.6 holds up very well (I was just going over consumer reports on the mustang and crown vic, and they both have top reliable engine rating) and the supercharger is roots style, running at low rpms compared to a centrifugal, and proving to be a reliable set-up. Plus, the blower is modeled after the lightning's supecharger, and that blower mated to the 5.4 triton has proved to be very reliable.
Anyway, on the surface, this appears to be one of the best performance-dollar values in history, but I can't help but be a little skeptikal
Oh, did I mention it looks fucking amazing!?
