    Default HELP! New counter tops

Ok. I got a rental property and the people who used to live there fucked around with the faucet and water leaked all over the place. I did my walkthrough with them and everything looked good. I then decided to replace the sink because the old one had some rust spots, I take out the sink the wood is rotten and now I need to replace the entire counter top. I have a new tenant moving in by the weekend which i'll have to delay (obviously) but is there anyone in town that will do a quick measurement, install in under 8 weeks. I've been to Rona and Home Depot and it takes 2 weeks just for someone to come out and measure the stupid counter tops.

Any help would be much appreciated.

There is always the ghetto (I think) route of putting down thick plywood and tiling overtop.

If you need it right away, this would work. Some people like it, but I don't.

Not ghetto at all. Just use big tile, or maybe a mosaic. Make sure you use plywood and not K3 or MDF-you see what water does to that stuff. And Shluter for the edges. Can we fix it? Yes we can!!!!

Just watch that shluter, if not properly installed, they could be razor sharp on the corners.

Give Ikea a try. I purchased a counter top from them and it took less than 3 weeks to get it installed. Also, the cost was less than what Home Depot quoted me and the guys that they contracted to do the work are very professional and did a really good job.

Found one that did a good job.

    +100 for Canwest Countertek.

They came the same day to measure and installed the next day. Can't beat it - 24hr turnaround!

Cut down the wait time because they keep a limited inventory of popular colors on hand at all time - so they don't have to wait for some woodmill in Quebec to ship it over. Worked in the evenings 'cause they knew I was in a bit of a bind. All of the other places I called said they need anything from 4-8 weeks to install........2 weeks to send someone out to do a quick measurement (which takes 5minutes).

Just use the matching corner pieces. No need to miter the corners.

I own a granite company. If you are in a rush, we can install within 3-4 DAYS!!!

    Maybe next time.
