Default Upgrade to the new Shaw modem FREE

Ok, so its not that new of a modem, but the docsis modem doubled my download and upload speed from 2MB to 4+MB and 200KB to 450KB. If you are still using the old crappy cybersurf modem, get rid of it and get a new docsis one free. Just bring it to one of the shaw stores and they will give you a brand new one on the spot. Plus it looks a lot better, smaller and stands up, eating up less space.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

So it is just a straight exchange if you own the modem, no renting it or anything? Also, is it just plugin and is it setup or do you have to set up anything setting wise. My cubersurfer has been giving me a bunch of problems lately.

The reason of the upgrade is so that Shaw can cap old Cybersurf users to more manageable rate and manage the traffic better.

So the bandwidth is better used for other services.

Hey you shaw users, does shaw slow down during peak usage times 5-9pm like it use to? Or does it have a consistent speed 24hrs a day like Telus?

You mean consistently slow like telus? I haven't noticed any slowdown times for a couple years.

I never had a problem with Telus. Always a very consistent 500kps REAL download speed from sites.

I call BULLSHIT. Telus is capped at around the 160-200 kbps download rate. Shaw is vastly superior, especially now that they have the pipeline to hold all of their users. I remember back when Shaw slowed down at peak times, but it seems nowadays its always as fast at anytime.

Telus sucks! Slow assed speeds and crappy menus to wade thru on their support lines! And once thru that you have a 40 minute wait with no option for them to call you back...whatta joke for a phone company!

I traded in my Cybersurf modem for the new one. I haven't noticed any significant changes in my download speed though. I work nights and am online weird hours. I do notice a definite speed increase late at night/early morn as opposed to peak times (5 - 10pm). But even peak times the speed is not bad, just better at night.
