    Default Blackberry's on Fido Network?

    Hey guys,

I'm interested in the blackberry pearl, but I'm currently on the Fido network with like a year and a half left.. and cancelling would be $200 max.

I know the blackberry pearl can be unlocked, however people have been telling me that only SMS and calls will work if I use my Fido SIM cause blackberry features aren't supported by the network.

Is/has anyone used an unlocked blackberry on the fido network? Has everything worked for you? and if it hasn't, is there anyway to make it work?

blackberry is only supported on the ROGERS network if you are using a SIM card. maybe there is some way you can get transferred over to the rogers' network?? since they are really the same anyways

Yeah, thats exactly what I was thinking. I've tried to search google, but didn't come up with anything specific.

I don't believe theres a way to switch over to Rogers without paying some sort of fee.

I know its $20.00 for every month you have left to cancel Fido to a maximum of $200.00. And I love Fido with its billing by the second, you can't beat that.

Damn.. thanks though guys, if anyone has done it, please share!

Actually, Fido offers Blackberry connect so I don't see why you couldn't use a blackberry.

Aren't Fido and Rogers the same network? I've got a fido phone and it always gets a Rogers signal. I believe they're owned by Rogers, aren't they?

Well, the girl at wirelesswave said fido owns rogers... but whatever, thats not relevant

About their website, I know it says that.. but a number of people have not been able to get a blackberry work on the fido network simply because the data is not the same.
I was told that even though rogers is with fido, their blackberry configurations are different.

if any of you are familiar with howardforums, which is a cellphone forum, even members there can't figure out how to utilize all the blackberry features when unlocked and connected with fido.

Maybe its only with that E62 because it is not a true blackberry?

You can now use a Blackberry on the Fido network. Fido will be offering a Blackberry very soon.

They've been saying that since who knows how long
there was supposed to be a blackberry released march 1, but nothing

blackberry connect on fido is different from actual blackberry data.
bb connect can only be used on the Nokia E62 still.
