Howdy,
is anyone here involved with a med school?
I'm contemplating UBC (/UNBC), U of C, and U of A.
Input please!
Stats?
GPA?
MCAT score?
Good enough to get me an interview at UBC last month (only school I applied to half way through my degree).
My extracurriculars are diverse and strong, but my academics are fine - which may not be enough being out of province for Alberta...
I get the feeling for admissions, U of A and U of C focus mostly on academics.
^^
those have to be highly competitive with all the schools in which you want to apply!! i know U of A is hard as hell to get into, but if you got the marks then your chances are much better!
For the most part I think U of C wants smart and mature students. I remember looking at the average age of students accepted when I was applying to places and it was quite high at the U of C.
I forget the residency requirements for U of A but aren't your chances of getting admission as an OOP applicant very very slim? Keep that in mind when applying to OOP schools.
Best of luck!
I googled this in about 2 minutes.

If you are serious about applying into medicine, you do not limit yourself to 3 schools, but apply across the country. If you are one of those people who are fortunate enough to get accepted into more than one school, you can then choose based on location, tuition, hottest girls, etc.
In my opinion, excluding the majority of medical schools based on geography is not the way you want to approach this. Think of it as looking for a job. Would you just put your resume in to one oil company and hope for the best, or would you shotgun every oil company you can find and pick and choose from the offers once they you get job offers?
