    Factor the top of the equation. So you get (x+8)(x-8)

    now you equation should look like

    (x+8)(x-8)/(x-8)^1/2

    You can further simplify this by dividing (x-8)/(x-8)^1/2 = (x-8)^1/2 This is just rules of powers, subtract the powers if the bases are equal.

    This leaves:

    lim (x+8)(x-8)^1/2
    x->8

    Plug in 8 and you get an answer =0.

    Easy.

    Take a look at the numerator of this equation: X^2 - 64. That's the first part.

    hey skillz
    after multiplying by (x+8)^1/2 on the top and bottom and then simplifying u get (x+8)(x+8)^1/2
    u should be able to take it from there

    Ya, its like a normal limit but you approach 8 from the positive side. You follow the curve of the graph and only look at the value of y when x is greater than 8. But due to the limit you are looking at really small numbers close to 8. As you move close to the value of 8 you eventually find the value at 8. Realistically plug some other numbers into the equation that are slightly larger than 8, try 8.1, 8.01, 8.001 and so on. They are all larger than 8 but you will see that the closer you get to 8 the closer the value gets to 0. A limit just tells you that you are plugging in a number that is infinitely close to 8.
