I went to Cuba this last December and chose the hotel based on the reviews on trip advisor (I find this a very reliable source).
We stayed at Iberostar Varadero and I recommend it. We went on several tours and it seemed like the biggest complaint from the other members of the tours we attended was that the food was bad. The food at IV was great, people were friendly, rooms were nice. The main pool area was beautiful!
I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed at the Tryp Peninsula 2 yrs ago and it was amazing. We also spent an afternoon checking out most of the other resorts on the strip and they didn't compare. It is a lot newer than most of the resorts (around 6 - 7 years old) and seems better maintained. Only negative is the food wasn't the greatest but I think thats everywhere in Cuba.

stayed @ Melia Las Americas in Varadero last July. It's the resort attached to the golf course. Beautiful place and beach, the food in the general area isn't the greatest, but the other restaurants there we wonderful. The italian place served lobster some nights too! Of cousre it's all inclusive.

    Back from the dead....

Has anyone had any troubles working in the US after visiting CUBA?

I would really like to visit there, but I hold a US Work Visa and I dont want to get black balled.

    Did they stamp your passport?

Has anyone been to the US since? Made it through immigration etc?

    Thanks

hey the Cuban customs does not stamp your passport for that exact reason , the give u a travel card on your way in , and stamp that on your way out . leaving no trace that you have ever been to cuba

i got back last week , had a awesome stay at the Palma Real
    great value for the price

food in cuba sucks lol , but beaches and weather and the people were great

They stamped my passport both times I was in Cuba, and I was able to go through American customs after that, without any hassle..

Just ask them not to stamp it and they won't. Lots of people from the US go to Cuba via a Canadian gateway. Cubans know not to stamp American passports but generally stamp other countries passports unless you ask them not to.

That really depends if you get the A310 or A330. The A330 are brand new planes. The A310 is a little older plane, but its fun to fly on a classic like that.
