Thumbs down Calgary Centaur Subaru wasted my whole day! :(

I booked an appointment to get an oil leak fixed 3 weeks ago at Centaur Subaru, went down there today at 8:30am, they didn't even give me a ride out to downtown or even offer me a c-train ticket. I went back there at 3:30pm, and this is the reply I got from the service department "Sorry, we haven't even bothered looking at your car, do you have time tomorrow to come back?" WTF, do I look like I have unlimited time? I came all the way across from the NW corner of the city through morning traffic jams, and I work out of town, so I don't even have many days free in Calgary to get any servicing work done.

I'm extremely disappointed in their service, not only were the service deparment people unfriendly (don't acknowlege me when I walk in, make me wait for a couple of minutes while they "work" behind the counter), they didn't do a good job at all on all levels.

Does anyone have the contact or know who the general manager of the dealership is, I want to call and complain.

ps. some other threads of interest about the service provided by Centaur Subaru

I already dropped off my car after driving across the entire city, I needed to pick it up anyway, no matter if they've done the work or not. I needed the car to drive to work tomorrow, I work 470km away from Calgary.

If anything, THEY should be ones calling me at mid day telling me maybe my car won't be ready tonight! Don't make me find out after I call/visit them. They got the cheif mechanic out and he bitched, saying "How am I going to get that oil seal fixed in 2 hours, I still got a bunch of stuff to do". I was being very nice, I said "That's fine, I'll get it done later" and just left.

Gotta say, the service I got at BMW Calgary/MINI Crowfoot is way better when I brought my MINI cooper in. Car always done on time, loaner cars/ride avaliable, friendly servicing deparments, always wash and clean the car before handing the keys back to me.

^ talk to the service manager. tell him whats up, he will do something about it.

i will never ever go to centaur again. they are so damn rude, they are lucky there are one of the only two subaru dealerships in calgary.

try taking your car to subaru of calgary. i get a little better service there, but it still sucks.

    another option is allmakes.

I agree Centaur is bloody horrible , they dont treat there customers like a customer... more like someone bugging them to do work.

take your car to another dealer. i'm all most positive that you don't have to take your Subaru. "if you drive a subaru"
to a Subaru dealer, take it to a other dealer closer to your place. it might even cost the same $$ for the same job.

That's right, I would not go to a dealership if it wasn't for warranty work, which this is.

Subaru of Calgary already contacted me, they seem far nicer and professional so far. I hope they will atleast treat a customer like anyone who wants business should

ps. The servicing manager was sitting right there today at Centaur's servicing counter. While I was there at 3:30pm, he purposely talked very quietietly about my "case" with the lady at the servicing desk, didn't want me to hear something. I really want to get in touch with the dealership's GM and have a little chat with him.

Couldn't have put it better, that's exactly the way I felt while I was there.

I take my car (an infiniti) to All Makes Auto on 32nd in the NE and they do amazing work, plus they are a subaru specialist. My uncle took his subaru svx there for many years and was also very pleased with their service.

I say you give them a call

Yep, I've heard good things about them, and for non-warranty work I'll know where to go!

They got busy, I take it? Well next time you should just mention your situation and maybe that will help. But to them for messing it up anyway. It's not like you should have had to tell them that.

Go to Calgary Subaru. From all I've read they seem a better choice.

it all depends what you go for

service is better at SOC but their sales staff sucks, by far the worest myself, friends and family has ever delt with.

centaur is good for sales but sucks on the service side big time. i have dealt with both dealers many times on many sides and i find its always the same everytime i go. even when they both claim to have hired new staff, it seems the teach all the noobs to do the same stupid shit they've done in the past.

My brother has a SVX and Centaur has been very good to us every time the car has needed something done. We have never used subaru of calgary for service, but I can tell you their sales staff is horrendous, espeically the woman who works there. My dad and I came in to look at an STi and she started off talking to us like we were 2 years old "Now, this car has a turbo charger" etc. etc. She was a joke. Then she only let us drive around the block in the STi, which was pointless because that can't possibly give us an idea of how the car is.

Thats just my experience anyways, sounds like Centuar isn't that good afterall though.

Most of the regular maintenence on our Legacy has been done at Subaru of Calgary without problems and when we bought the car I found the sales staff halpful and patient. Unlike many of the other dealerships where we test drove cars.

I have the work done now at All Makes because their price is more 'competitive'

Why not try Subaru specialist All Makes in the NE? Does it have to be dealer work? They probably offer better service and are probably more knowledgeable than a dealer (don't just assume a dealership is better).

BTW Mitsu, I believe it is Subaru policy: no test drives in a new STi. Only test drives in used ones.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!
