Are you getting a base color underneath the white stipple?
I'm going to be painting the living room a medium brown, thinking of going for a light brown as the base for the knock down stipple ceiling. And maybe scrape 6" off the outer edge so it kinda looks likea boarder...

Knock down is pretty popular. I would be careful painting a base coat under it though. If you decide to change colors down the road you would have to make sure that it matches with your base coat. I have knock down in my house, but we just went with a white base coat.
