    Default Lcd screen issues.

I need some help here, I recently installed a Myron&davis ak1070W (7” roof mount flip down screen) and a AD212 (dvd player) in my car, I hooked the DVD player up and everything there is working fine, the problem is the LCD, I hooked up the power to accessory to avoid the possibility of battery drain, and the ground to ground.

The problem is when I start up my dvd player, and then press power on the lcd, the screen will show the video for about 1 second and go black, I’m not sure if it’s just the back light that turns off, but I cant see anything on the screen. If I turn the screen off, and back on again, it does the same thing, over and over. I have both the DVD player and screen running on the same wire to my fuse box, there may be a lack of power, but I don’t think there is because sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it doesn’t.

Any suggestions, short of buying new components?

I'm not exactly understanding why you hooked the power to accessory. Accessory is the line that has constant power, if memory serves, thus increasing the chance for battery drain. (Yellow wire = accessory or constant 12V; red = switched power). Most of the time you can't draw enough power over the accessory to actually run the unit.

Before you take it back, try wiring it properly and see if that works. If not, you may just have a faulty unit.

    theres your answer right there.
accessory wire is there to avoid constant battery drain from the screen. wire it up properly and you will not have any problems with the screen or the car battery (^_^) V

there are only 2 wires on this unit, i ran the power to an accessory wire so that it will automatically shut off when the car is shut off, to not drain the battery.

there is only a power, and ground, not a constant, accessory and ground.

    EDIT:
I think i may have figured it out, it seems that the screen has to be turned on before the dvd player for some odd reason.

I'll try explaining again, but I thought I was pretty clear:

Accessory IS CONSTANT POWER. It does not "shut off": it is designed to stay on to provide memory saving functions like keeping your clock going or making your cabin lights work when the key isn't in. A switched power line (like to main power to a stereo) will power on and off with the ignition.

The Myron & Davis website does not have a specific manual available for that screen, but the one for the DVD player recommends that power be through a "12V ignition source." This to me indicates switched power.

Also, the screen seems to have an "auto-off" function that powers it down if it doesn't detect a signal for a certain length of time.

Even though you've found a "solution," you may still want to re-wire it. An accessory wire is not intended for full power.

ok, then i'll re-word my statement.

i have it hooked to "switched" power, not constant. I didn't see anythign in the manual regarding an auto off feature, but i'll test it. thanks for the suggestions.

But i was under the impression that "accessory" power was power that was turned on when you car is put in to "accessory" mode. apparently i was/am mistaken.
