Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

my interstate battery died, I got the 75 month warranty paid 200 but they wanted to pro-rate it "as a core". So I really do not understand this warranty stuff

Napa has been very good to me with the warranty. That plus the most locations of any battery retailer in the country, and it's a pretty nice option.

My opinion is that their batteries are as good as anyone unless you get into the true high-end stuff.

    How old was your battery?

I found this online about prorated battery:

Prorated means that after the replacement warranty is up say 3 years on a 7 year battery at year 4 if it fails you would get 75% of the replacement price year 5 50% replacement price and year 6 25% of the replacement price and well if it makes it to year 7 you get nothing.

Say the battery was 100 bucks

4 years old it dies you get 75 bucks towards a new one and so on.

5 years 50 bucks on a new one.

    6 years 25 bucks

    7 years 0 dollars.

An unlimited warranty is usually the whole term of the warranty, and a limited warranty is just that say it has a two year limited warranty all this means is the product is covered for two years after that nothing and also a limited warranty my just be on certain parts of the item as well.

You would have been in the fifth maybe starting the 6th year of the battery so you should have gotten 25 bucks towards a new one at least, but the disposal fee will eat a portion of that.
Not sure what pro rate as a core is...

This is that Interstate battery I picked up a few months ago now to replace the dead OEM battery. Just saying....S-O-L-I-D battery from personal experience.

my sons Civic barely started btw. Sat for about a week...maybe not enough CCA, dunno, but his car isn't running an interstate.
Sounds like Interstate batteries are good. I'll probably go pick one up soon. Where did you buy yours?

You can buy them from any Auto-Value joint.

checkout the interstate battery site first and see what they have for options for your car.

My Tacoma I just picked up, they have a few options:

    - Standard Battery which had options from 450 CCA to 640 CCA

    - Heavy Duty Battery which was either 600 CCA or 800 CCA + and AGM unit.

Besides the CCA's, I think the other difference between standard and heavy duty is the warranty. The one I just picked up for the truck is the 800 CCA one with a 6 year warranty.

Also there's link you can click for Canadian Prices. The site has the MTP-24F I bought at $170 retail and $194 List. But reg price at Auto Value was $135, so I would totally check out Auto Value.

Interstate is now making alot of the OEM batteries for car manufactuers. Such as Mercedes-Benz for 1

It's my opinion that all batteries are manufactured with poor quality control in a small number of factories and there is littler differentiation between brands. Therefore, two things are more important than brand name. 1) Buying from a retailer that will not cause hassles for warranty and 2) buying from a retailer that has enough locations in places where you are likely to be that you aren't stranded.

I buy NAPA batteries for this reason. Lots of locations in small towns, and they've been great when I needed warranty stuff.

Imo they suck but the no questions asked warranty (2yr?) is amazing

If it dies you take it back and they give you a brand new one!! I think i am on my 3rd replacement.

Interesting. I'm still using the one I bought in my Tacoma, still no issues. And I rarely ever drive the Tacoma now. As in this past long as winter, I didn't drive it once. Started it up every few weeks, no probs. Not plugged in, nothing. Bought one for my Mini Cooper as well, same deal, barely drove in this winter as I took the SUV, and no probs either. No battery tender on either vehicle. Taco was outside, Mini in the garage.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

I think Johnson Controls makes the batteries for Kirkland, Napa, and Interstate to be honest.
