$1k?!?!?! Carline can easily do that (w. Mandrel bent pipes too) for less than $500! Give them a call, they'll probably be able to take you in the next day too!

$500 is pushing it for Mandrel bends. Crush bent piping alone using mild steel will run you around the $300 mark from a header to axle back application.Originally posted by mo_money2supe

+1 for jason! great guy and does great work
Sorry, I just threw out a random number based on my experiences there with crushed pipes. But would anyone know how much mandrel bent pipes from Carline (w. labour obviously) costs by any chance? I might upgrade in the near future after the FI goes in.Originally posted by richardchan2002

I think $300 might be topping it out though for the crushed pipes, but that might depend on the length of pipe(s). For my short Civic, from cat back (including an $80 resonator), it came just shy of $300. I'm sure the additional piping between the header and the cat wouldn't add that much more costs to that total.

Mandrel bent is the way to go.
Better flow and looks.
Prices vary, but $1000 seems a little high.
As mentioned, $500 or so would be more like it.
If it's not being TIG welded, don't pay any more than that.
Good luck.
WOW he quoted you that much!!! I gotta have a talk with him!!Originally posted by AzN'SKillZ

this is my story for carline..........Originally posted by Revhard
i got off school and arrived at carline (across from chinook mall) at 12:00. Talk to one of the mechanics there, i tell him i needed a muffler installed. He pointed at my car and said "THAT THING". I was not happy about that comment, he could have just said "is that your car". After i briefly said what i needed done, he told me to come back in half a hour because everyone is on lunch. So i go to chinook mall for a little bit and come back. The same guy lifts my car up, takes a look starts shaking his head and telling me he cant do this (side note, one of the reason why i wanted the muffler installed in the first places was because one piece of the exhaust was disconnected when i purchased it). He
pointed at the part where the piping connects to the engine (i guess) and said 2 out of the three bolts where stripped, and he also made a comment about i need more then just pipes. His manager or the owner came by to look at my car, he just said basically that yes they could do this, and that they would just weld the pipe to that part. he gives me a quote ~500, for about 3 hours of work, 2.5" piping starting from engine back(i asked for mandrel bent but i guess his shop does not provide that, and he said that it wont make much difference in performance). Im not dont have knowledge at exhaust systems, but i did do a little online research before i went to his shop, from my understanding i need a turboback exhaust system. So i asked if engine back, and a turbo back is the same thing he said yes (is this true?). The same guy that i talk to first, starts cutting off my old exhaust system, everything is going good no problems, but other people keep on interrupting him with other things to do. When he started to bend the pipe, it probly took him 30 mins too shape the first part, he kept on redoing it over and over again. So eventually his boss comes over and ask him to work on another project for a little while. The boss basically redid that part again and it only took him 10 mins not even. after that it was smooth sailing. i kept track of the time and they finished the job in 2 hours. In the end the totall cost was 460, so after tax it was just a little shy of 500.
this seemed a little much considering he orginally planed 3 hours, and it only took 2.
But to sum everything up, this experience was neutral, they did take me in right away, didnt need to make no apointment. and the quility from what i can tell is good. Maybe im just being really picky
