Default Logitech Harmony 688 - Good Deal?

Okay I was just having a look at Bestbuy's website and came across these doorcrasher specials. I found this Logitech Harmony 688 remote for 79.99
    http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...gon=&langid=EN

    3 questions:
    1. Is this a good deal? Has anyone seen these cheaper?
    2. How are these things on batteries?
    3. Can you use this with the xbox 360 to control dvd playback?

    http://www.google.ca/search?q=harmony+688+reviews

I saw that this morning on their website, and I think I might get one. There is a huge savings, and it has good reviews. Shipping is only 1.99, so if it doesn't work out, then you only really loose 2.15$ + your time.

I don't think it will work for xbox 360 because doesn't it use RF for the controllers, I think this remote is infrared?

On your recent visit to BestBuy.ca you placed an order (XXXXXXXX) for the Harmony 688 Remote. Unfortunately the stock we received from the manufacturer was damaged and the product has since been discontinued.

We would like to offer you a comparable substitute. We have the Logitech Harmony 550 Universal Remote, a newer model that has the same features as the 688 as well as a few extras (Media Centre Capability, PVR Ready, larger LCD Screen and more).

For your own convenience, we will automatically change your order, with no extra charges, to this particular model. If you do not want to receive this unit as a replacement, just go to our website within the next 24 hours and cancel you order.

We at BestBuy.ca would like to apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced and appreciate you taking full advantage of our web store opportunities and are working hard to prevent any similar issues in the future.

We thank you for shopping at BestBuy.ca and hope to serve you again in the near future.

    Sincerely,

    BestBuy.ca

I find 550 handles and looks way better than 688. So that's a good trade.

But 880 is where it's at.

$80 isn't a bad price. But we do see that price for the low end models from time to time. Heck, 880 was $120 from Dell at the one of those Dell days.

I called this evening and the chick I talked to on the phone had no idea what I was even talking about! She said that my order was already released!? haha.

She said to email them back or something so that is what I am going to do to see what happened.

I got my remote today, the 550, for around 86$ in total.

So far it is really good, I have gotten rid of the clutter of 4 remotes.

And I was wrong about the 360. This remote CAN control the 360 for dvd playback, media center control, and even has the buttons on the menu from the controller.
