    Go here for more info.

If you don't have an ePass with the Government of Canada, you can't do it. I had an account set up a while go to deal with some tax matters. You can sign up online for an ePass, but it takes a week or two to get their verification password which comes via snail mail. You then log in with that password and your account is active.

FWIW, I did the online method last week. Showed up to the South Passport office last Thursday and I waited maybe 2 minutes. All the people that did it the old fashioned way had at least an hour wait. The clerk told me it was a "quiet day", but that online applicants ALWAYS get dealt with quicker. He seemed to imply that applications all through the system go faster when you do the online thing.

I was told I'll see mine in 3-4 weeks.

Stood in line, talked to the front desk lady who took a quick glance to make sure all documents were there.

Then I had to wait about 30 minutes for someone to call me to the back. She checked all documents to make sure everything was correct.

I paid and left. In and out in 45 minutes.

Was advised I might have to wait until June 29th the latest for it to arrive (it won't take that long)
    which one on crowchild????

Took me about less than 4 weeks to get it (Submitted my app on April 2 got it on April 27).

    Advice:

Do it online, make sure your printer settings match to what settings they say (since if you do it wrong you wait for nothing).

As the previous poster said, Bring it to Shawnessy Passport office (if you can do it, way worth it than waiting in Henry Hays, went to downtown first and found it was lined up big time, then went home got my car and drove to Shawnessy).

Give the person, the printout (forms) and ID and sign the papers as instructed in front of the person.

Got a ticket, which said 975 and when I looked up it said 974 was being served. Got a call in less than 2 minutes, teller checked it out and boom everything was set paid and was done...all in all, took me 5 minutes to do everything in Shawnessy...

Its really worth it if you can goto Shawnessy and did your app online.

The guy at the Passport office told me that the "Service Canada" centres just take the applications an need to forward them to other offices for actual processing. He told me to expect at least a week of extra processing when you go this route.

If people don't want to drive to the South office, take the train. The "Fish Creek" LRT station on the South leg stops right outside the office.

    That's true.
But if people aren't in a rush to get passports, then these service centers are a great way to beat the lines downtown or down South. But for those who need it in a hurry, gotta line-up downtown

Downtown isnt even that bad. People go on their lunch break and then complain when the line is long, what do you expect? I went down to the main office 15 minutes before it opened and I was out of there within 30 minutes.

I was down at the passport office at the Harry Hay's building, monday morning at ~8:30am. The lineup was around the corner, down the stairs and around the corner again. Even at this length, my total wait was 2 hours 15min.

Things I learned while I was there:

    i) Mondays and Fridays are the worst days to go

ii) You can pick up your passport in 10 days if you bring proof of travel at the time of application

iii) Some people have no idea what the hell a line up is or how it works

iv) Take in how many fine ass ladies Calgary has

    re: (ii)

But you pay between $30-$70 extra depending on how fast you need it.

I mailed mine in late January, early February, also went online to request a status on an application and after two weeks of no response, I called yesterday and was told they were still working on it. It's been longer than a 10 week wait for me. I still dont have it but I'm in no real rush.

And as for getting the passport in 10 days, when I called the passport office for someone I was told that it can actually be done as quickly as 1 day but you need to show proof that you NEED it by that time and you have to pay extra.

    I did everything online,

Went down to the office and submitted everything on April 3, arrived in mail on April 26th.

They said it would take 3-4 weeks.

juss got my passport the other day.

went on may 2 and got it on may 17.

    pretty awesome!

except my only beef with the new passports is that it doesn't even have a real picture anymore, its a scanned picture? makes the picture a little grainy.
