I went in for an interview there last weekend. Too bad my schedule didn't work out, but here's what I know:
Training is harsh, for a month or so.
Commission is sweet. You make alot, but you also need the sales skills as well.
It's not easy being sales, but if you make a good sale, then you make some good money.
My friend works there, he likes it. It's a very aggressive and competitive environment though so don't wuss out or anything hehe
I've got a couple of friends who work at the 32nd ave location and they are pretty happy with the employment there.

I worked at Future Shop a few years ago. Average salesman can make $100 - $200 a day easily in Calgary stores. If you are good, and on a busy day, $400 - $500 is possible.
It depends on the department you work for as well. I started in home office, then moved to car audio. I made more in home office than I did in car audio. It is not a bad job, because you can make decent money, but it can be stressful.

What is the commission rate?
I hear employees get to buy everything at cost, too.
I know you don't smoke weed. I know this. But I'm gonna git you high today. 'cause it's Friday, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do!
I'm not sure what the commission rate is, but if you look at the price tags, there is a little series of numbers which appears to be a serial code which actually tells you what you make off commission if you sell that item.
Example:
Item cost - $62.99
little number thing - 000609200
so you would make $6.92
If you're an aggressive salesperson and have excellent customer service skills, you can make some good coin at FS. Being that your wage is 100% commission, you HAVE to be aggressive-You have to be able to sell an igloo to an Eskimo I think every department is 100% commission, except for CD's/movies.....Good luck
i worked at the shawnessy location and the manager is a dick everyone i know has quit that place... futureshop is good only in december ... thats it you make an average of 62 to 130 dollars a day if you are good or you make a whole 6.90 but what they do is take your commis and add it up and take your hours and reg time and whatever one is higher you get... its your call ... i wouldn't do it
Did you just make this up? hahahaOriginally posted by Kamen

no he is right on that you look at the price tag and it tells you right in the bottom corner what you make off it
so at future shop, if all you sell is a pack of blank cds in 1 day, youd only make like $3 all day? if thats the case, than thats pretty harsh!

You make minimum wage, or your commission, whichever is greater.
But frankly, anyone working for less than 10 an hour has to do some soul searchin.

Are you sure Ben?
My friend said he gets paid a base rate of $9/hour plus commission.
This would make sense wouldn't it? You get paid a base rate and anything you sell you make extra because of your abilities.
There is probably two pay levels.Originally posted by Kamen

Base Rate + 5% comission on all sales.
Or
15% comission on all sales (No Base Rate).
